Police are investigating an apparent road rage incident in west Auckland that culminated in a man being hospitalised with serious injuries.
They say an "altercation" occurred between a moped rider and an occupant of a grey Nissan Skyline, on Monday 8 June.
That was followed by a crash "involving" both vehicles, on Great North Road in New Lynn, between Wattle and Nikau streets, shortly before 4pm.
The moped rider - a man in his 50s - was subsequently taken to Auckland City Hospital, where as of Wednesday morning he was in a serious condition.
Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie, of the Waitematā CIB, said police "have spoken with the occupants of the Skyline," and are now seeking witnesses to the incident.
She asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward by phoning the 105 non-emergency number or online via 105.police.govt.nz, using the reference number 260608/8828.
