MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army on Wednesday rejected reports of alleged internal discontent within its ranks, saying it remains a disciplined and professional force.
Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete said the service continues to prioritize the welfare and morale of its personnel, stressing that internal mechanisms are in place to address concerns across the organization.
“We assure the Filipino people that the leadership of the Philippine Army remains fully committed to the care and well-being of our soldiers,” he said in a statement.

Nafarrete said troop morale remains a top priority, maintained through what he described as responsive leadership, continuous engagement, and institutional support to keep personnel focused on their mission.
He also reiterated the Army’s apolitical stance, saying it remains a nonpartisan institution bound by its oath of service and commitment to democratic principles.

The statement came as the broader military establishment addressed circulating online posts alleging a destabilization attempt targeting Malacañang on Independence Day, claims that have not been independently verified.

Earlier, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said it was closely monitoring social media reports and other circulating claims, stressing that it takes such information seriously and is validating it through coordination with security agencies.
AFP chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said the military is working closely with the Philippine National Police and other uniformed services to assess potential security risks.
He said, however, that internal monitoring had not shown any unusual activity within the armed forces and rejected suggestions of any destabilizing movement from within its ranks.
Brawner also warned against the misuse of AFP images in online posts allegedly calling for participation in political rallies, saying such content misrepresents the institution.
The Army did not directly address the specific allegations of a plot but emphasized unity, discipline, and continued operational readiness.
“As we continue to serve the Filipino people and secure the land we are dedicated to protect, we remain committed to our mission,” it said. /mcm
