A 26-year-old man from an East African country has been forcibly returned from Malta to his country of origin following an immigration process led by the Immigration Police.
Police said the man had earlier this year been arrested in Paceville after allegedly disturbing public peace.
Following investigations and interviews carried out by Principal Immigration Officers, authorities established that the man had been living irregularly in Malta after his residence permit expired.
The man was subsequently issued with a Return Order and a Removal Decision against him after authorities found that he no longer fulfilled the conditions required to remain within the Schengen Zone.
He was held at a detention centre under the supervision of the Detention Services Agency while the return process continued, before ultimately being removed from Malta in the coming days.
