Prabowo asserts zero tolerance for corruption in health sector

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto issued a stern mandate for clean governance in the healthcare sector, declaring that there will be absolute zero tolerance for corruption or the misappropriation of funds within public health facilities.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Kiai Haji Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Pesisir Barat District, Lampung Province, on Wednesday (June 10), the President made it clear that public healthcare must remain untainted by institutional misconduct.

"I order that there must be no misappropriation, no corruption in public services," President Prabowo emphasized, in a broadcast released by the Presidential Secretariat.

The president directed all echelons of regional hospital management to immediately enforce transparent and professional institutional governance.

According to Prabowo, state-funded medical institutions are legally and morally obligated to prioritize optimal service delivery for the public benefit.

Public health facilities must also maintain clean, sterile, and comfortable environments to properly serve patients, he added.

He expressed high expectations that the new state-constructed hospital will quickly transform into a benchmark for top-tier healthcare servicing the entire population of Lampung's West Coast.

"The people, the community, must feel the real benefits of this hospital,” Prabowo stated.

The head of state underscored that transparency is crucial to ensuring that all government health budget allocations yield a direct, positive impact on public well-being.

To back this mandate, the central government will actively deploy strict oversight measures to monitor regional healthcare spending and eliminate fund mismanagement before it starts.

The inauguration of the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional Hospital is part of a broader infrastructure push by the Prabowo administration to expand medical access to remote and developing regions.
