Prabowo inaugurates hospital in Lampung to boost healthcare access

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital in Pesisir Barat, Lampung, on Wednesday to reinforce the government's commitment to improving nationwide healthcare accessibility.

In a video statement livestreamed by the Presidential Secretariat, he expressed hope that the new hospital would make tangible contributions to boosting the quality of health services in the region.

Prabowo emphasized that making health facilities more accessible and adequate is essential. It ensures that all residents have quick and easy access to medical services.

In that context, the president pointed to reports about people facing difficulties accessing health services due to limited facilities, inadequate infrastructure, and geographical challenges.

He cited as an example a case in which a mother lost her life from postpartum bleeding after failing to reach a hospital in time.

Addressing such a problem, he continued, requires greater efforts aimed at strengthening health infrastructure and services in various regions across Indonesia.

"The government will continue to enhance health services. Together with the health minister, I have devised a plan to build, repair, and renovate 300 to 400 hospitals in all districts across Indonesia within the next three years," Prabowo emphasized.

In addition to development and renovation, he said the government intends to modernize health services by distributing about 1,000 pieces of advanced medical equipment to hospitals nationwide.

Prabowo explained that the move aims to strengthen diagnosis and treatment capabilities, sparing residents from traveling out of town to access the adequate services they need.

The head of state then urged hospital operators to uphold professionalism and transparency to deliver the finest services to the public.

He also underscored the importance of maintaining cleanliness, adopting sound management models, and avoiding corrupt practices in public service.
