Instagram user @adinaa_elena6 has raised concerns after spotting a drone flying extremely close to residential balconies in St Paul’s Bay.
Videos uploaded to Instagram show the drone hovering just metres away from apartment balconies and windows in broad daylight, with the camera appearing to face directly towards several homes.
“Did anyone else notice a drone flying very close to residential balconies in St. Paul’s Bay today?” she wrote.
“It appeared to be filming directly towards several flats, including mine. My curtains were open at the time and it felt quite intrusive.”
The footage shows the drone manoeuvring between residential buildings at a relatively low height, at times appearing level with private balconies.
“Plenty of open spaces around Malta to fly a drone without peering into people’s homes,” she added.
The videos sparked discussion online around privacy concerns and responsible drone usage in residential areas.
