
Football fans in Portugal will have a wide range of options for following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, whether from the comfort of their homes, on mobile devices or in fan zones and public viewing areas across the country.
The tournament gets underway on Thursday, June 11 and features a record 48 national teams competing across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Television viewers will be able to watch selected matches on free-to-air channels RTP, SIC and TVI, which have secured the rights to broadcast 20 matches, including Portugal’s games and key knockout fixtures.
Sports broadcaster Sport TV will provide comprehensive coverage throughout the competition, with all matches available on Sport TV 5, a dedicated World Cup channel operating around the clock during the tournament.
Meanwhile, LiveMode TV will stream 34 matches free of charge on YouTube, including all of Portugal’s group-stage fixtures.
For radio listeners, Rádio Renascença holds live commentary rights, while RTP has announced coverage of Portugal’s matches on Antena 1 and RTP África.
Fans looking for a communal viewing experience will also find numerous public screening events across Portugal.
In Lisbon, the Terreiro do Paço will host the Lisboa Football Arena, a large-scale fan zone organised in partnership with Lisbon City Council and the Portuguese Football Federation. Elsewhere in the capital, venues including Browers Beato, Time Out Market and Musa de Marvila will screen selected matches.
The UBBO shopping centre in Amadora plans to create a dedicated fan area with a giant screen, while Vila Nova de Gaia will host the Betano Fan Zone, where more than 60 matches are expected to be shown live.
In Porto, the Mercado do Bom Sucesso will broadcast matches during its opening hours.
The Algarve will also join the celebrations. In Albufeira, the Albufeira Terrace will feature a giant screen and dedicated fan activities, including a Panini sticker exchange area. Matches kicking off before 9pm will be shown live, while later fixtures will be replayed the following day.

June 23 – Portugal v Uzbekistan, 6pm (TVI, Sport TV 5 and LiveMode TV)
June 28 – Portugal v Colombia, 12.30am (RTP, Sport TV 5 and LiveMode TV)
