The member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, has passed away.
Tongo died on at Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja, after a protracted illness.
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, in a condolence message issued by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, expressed deep sorrow over the death of the federal lawmaker.
He described Tongo as grassroots politician, seasoned public servant and committed representative who dedicated his life to the service of his people and the development of the State.

According to the governor, the late lawmaker left a lasting impact through various constituency projects, humanitarian support initiatives and his commitment to advancing the welfare of his constituents.
“Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo was a passionate and grassroot leader whose contributions to community development and public service earned him the respect and admiration of many. His demise is indeed a huge loss to our state and the nation,” the governor said.
Inuwa noted that Tongo would continue to be remembered for his legacy of humility, accessibility and commitment to constituency development.
The Governor prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant his soul eternal repose and his family, associates and constituents the fortitude to bear the loss.
