Balogun’s two goals were the story of the night technically: clinical finishes from a striker who has taken time to assert himself internationally but showed here that he belongs at this level.

Julio Enciso did not start, his double injury to the side and lower back having kept him out of the opening lineup as expected.

Two weeks of sharing the same patch of New Jersey, fifteen minutes apart, watching each other’s training clips on the same analytical databases, and now at last, they play.
