Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said Indonesia's partnership with the United States (US) continues to grow on the foundation of mutual respect.
During an event commemorating the upcoming 250th Independence Day of the US in Jakarta on Thursday, he underlined that Indonesia and the US continue to strengthen their cooperation for mutual interest, particularly since elevating their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
In a statement confirmed on Friday, he underscored that close communication and meetings between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump reflect a shared commitment to delivering concrete benefits for both nations.
Yusril emphasized the importance of legal and institutional foundations in building trust, certainty, and confidence within the Indonesia-US partnership.
According to him, economic ties remain one of the strongest pillars of the bilateral relationship, with the US serving as one of Indonesia's largest export destinations and a major source of foreign investment.
The minister said opportunities for bilateral cooperation are vast, spanning energy, advanced technology, food security, digital innovation, and resilient supply chains.
Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, he added, Indonesia is committed to becoming a strong, sovereign, and prosperous nation in the world.
Yusril noted that economic resilience, food and energy security, high technology, and national defense are integral parts of this vision, while also creating opportunities for meaningful cooperation with trusted partners like the US.
In addition to intergovernmental cooperation, he highlighted the importance of people-to-people ties, noting that the diaspora plays a critical role in bridging the friendship between the two nations.
These ties, he added, are further strengthened through cultural exchanges, education, and shared interests.
The minister also emphasized the role of the younger generations in Indonesia and the US, who are increasingly collaborating in technology, startups, creative industries, sports, film, and music.
He noted that diplomacy between two countries is shaped not only in meeting rooms but also by a new generation of innovators, creators, and future leaders.
Ahead of the US independence day, Yusril extended his congratulations, on behalf of the Indonesian government and people, to the government and people of the US.
He viewed this historic anniversary as a momentum to remember the courage, sacrifice, and belief that independence must ultimately serve the dignity and welfare of the people.
Minister Yusril called on all parties to strengthen Indonesia–US relations, expressing hope that the bilateral friendship will continue to deepen cooperation and people-to-people ties.
