
Six people were rescued from Wied Iż-Żurrieq this morning following an incident that prompted a coordinated emergency response.
Home Affairs and Security Minister Glenn Bedingfield shared news of the rescue on social media, praising the authorities and volunteers involved in the operation.
“Remember: Safety first – always,” Bedingfield said, while urging the public to prioritise safety.
The minister thanked members of the Civil Protection Department, the Police Force, the Red Cross, medical teams and others who assisted during the rescue.
“Well done and thank you to the Civil Protection Department, the Police, the Red Cross, the medical team and all those who gave a helping hand for a life to be saved,” he said.
No further details have yet been released about the circumstances that led to the rescue operation, and it is not currently known whether anyone was injured.
Authorities have not provided additional information on the incident at this stage.
