60-Year-Old Woman Dies After Swimming Incident In Baħar Iċ-Ċagħaq

A 60-year-old woman from Swieqi has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Baħar iċ Ċagħaq yesterday evening.

Police were informed at around 8pm that assistance was needed in Triq il-Blat l-Abjad, in the limits of Naxxar.

Preliminary investigations found that the woman encountered difficulties while swimming. People nearby rushed to assist her and helped bring her out of the water.

The victim was given first aid by a medical team before being transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Sadly, she was certified dead a short time later.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud has been informed of the case and has opened a magisterial inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
