Two men suffered grievous injuries following a series of traffic accidents on Coast Road in Naxxar this morning.
Police were called to the scene at around 7.15am after a Subaru Impreza driven by a 41-year-old man from Għaxaq crashed into a wall and came to a stop in the middle of the carriageway.
As traffic built up behind the vehicle, a 36-year-old motorcyclist riding a Suzuki reportedly attempted to avoid the stopped vehicles but lost control and crashed into the crash barriers.
At the same location and around the same time, a chain collision involving five vehicles also took place. The vehicles involved were an Isuzu van, a Mazda 2, a Toyota Passo, a Toyota Vitz and a Porsche.
The driver of the Toyota Vitz, a 29-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay, was also injured in the collision.
A medical team assisted at the scene before both the motorcyclist and the Vitz driver were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where they were later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.
The 41-year-old Subaru driver was not injured.
Police investigations are ongoing.
