Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is seeking increased investment from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to strengthen national supply chains and food security, according to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
He said that Indonesia welcomes the commitment of the UAE and global business players such as Louis Dreyfus Company to expand economic cooperation.
"We encourage increased investment that supports downstreaming, food security, and strengthening the national supply chain,” Airlangga said in a statement on Sunday.
He added the UAE remains one of Indonesia's strategic partners in the Middle East.
According to Airlangga, the implementation of the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-UAE CEPA) could further boost bilateral trade and investment flows.
The Indonesian government also reaffirmed its support for the continued operations and business expansion of UAE-linked companies in Indonesia, including Louis Dreyfus Company, which has been present in the country for 25 years.
Meanwhile, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri expressed appreciation for the steadily growing bilateral relationship.
"The UAE views Indonesia as an important partner in Southeast Asia and is open to expanding collaboration across various economic sectors," he said.
During the meeting, the UAE also conveyed several strategic investment commitments.
Abu Dhabi Export (ADEX) expressed its commitment to investing in projects focused on strengthening Indonesia's food security.
The commitment reflects the UAE's confidence in the potential of Indonesia's food and agribusiness sectors while reinforcing the long-term economic partnership between the two countries.
Beyond the food sector, cooperation is also expected to cover infrastructure development.
Abu Dhabi Ports (ADP) has expressed readiness to support airport development in Bali through a feasibility study.
Indonesia and the UAE agreed to maintain close communication to ensure that investment commitments are implemented effectively.
The two countries also committed to strengthening investment synergies, providing business certainty for strategic investors, and accelerating priority projects that support sustainable economic growth.
