The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested a 21-year-old man over alleged kidnapping and murder of a 60-year-old electrical technician.
The suspect, identified as Soliu Olarewaju Mujeeb, was arrested following an intelligence-driven investigation into the disappearance of Mr Olarewaju Olusegun Afolabi.
The deceased was reported missing after leaving home on June 7 to inspect an electrical installation project.
His disappearance sparked a frantic search by family members in Ilorin.

The matter was formally reported to the NSCDC Tracking Unit after several unsuccessful attempts to establish contact with him.
Investigators said the case took a disturbing turn when members of the victim’s family began receiving ransom demands of N2 million from his mobile phone shortly after his disappearance.
The family was later instructed to pay N120,000, which was reportedly delivered as directed by the caller.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime and admitted having a previous working relationship with the deceased as his assistant in electrical installation jobs.
The suspect allegedly told them that a disagreement between both men resulted in a personal grievance that allegedly motivated the attack.
He then allegedly lured the victim to an uncompleted building in the Kangile area of Kunlende under the pretext of inspecting a new electrical project.
Speaking at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin on Sunday, the State Commandant, Abbas Nda Mohammed, said the breakthrough came after operatives tracked digital and financial trails linked to the victim.
According to the Commandant, concern grew after the technician failed to return home and could no longer be reached by relatives.
Mohammed said sustained intelligence gathering, digital tracking and analysis of financial transactions connected to the victim eventually led operatives to the suspect.
“He allegedly attacked and killed the technician before taking possession of his mobile phone and SIM card and subsequently used the stolen phone to contact the victim’s family to demand ransom.
“He then led operatives to the crime scene where a shallow grave believed to contain the victim’s remains was discovered.”
According to the NSCDC, the victim’s mobile phone and SIM card were also recovered from the suspect.
Mohammed said investigations were ongoing, adding that the suspect would be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further action upon conclusion of preliminary inquiries.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Corps to protecting lives and property and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
“We will continue to work with other security agencies to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven in Kwara State,” the Commandant said.
