Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has joined Nigerians in celebrating this year’s Democracy Day, describing June 12 as a symbol of the resilience, sacrifices, and triumph of the people’s will in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
In a statement issued to commemorate the occasion, Governor Fintiri paid tribute to the heroes of democracy, both living and deceased, whose struggles and sacrifices helped entrench democratic governance in the country.
He described June 12 as a watershed in Nigeria’s political history and a reminder that power ultimately belongs to the people.
The Governor noted that his administration had, over the past seven years, recorded significant achievements in infrastructure development and other sectors with direct impact on the economy and the lives of the people.

“As we mark this year’s Democracy Day, I call for the continued support, patience, and cooperation of all citizens of Adamawa State and Nigeria at large. With your support, we can consolidate on our gains and provide even more dividends of democracy that will uplift our communities, strengthen our economy, and secure a better future for our children,” Governor Fintiri stated.
He also called on Nigerians to work collectively towards strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring a successful democratic process in the country.
“The challenges of today cannot and will not overwhelm our great country. We are a people defined by resilience, courage, and hope. If we stand united, Nigeria will emerge stronger,” the Governor declared.
Governor Fintiri urged Nigerians to remain united, peaceful, and committed to democratic ideals, stressing that the task of nation-building requires collective effort, tolerance, and patriotism.
“Democracy is not an event but a process. Let us all play our part to deepen it, protect it, and ensure that it delivers prosperity, justice, and dignity for every Nigerian,” he added.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency, inclusive governance, and people-centred development.
