The English post-punk band had been working on Post-Script before Mark E. Smith’s death in 2018
June 14, 2026
Eight year’s after the Fall frontman Mark E. Smith died of lung and kidney cancer, the English post-punk band has announced a final album. Post Script will arrive on Cog Sinister Records in mid-September, per a press release, and a lead single, “30 Degrees,” is out now. Listen to that below.
“30 Degrees” was co-written by the late Smith and bandmates Simon Archer and Ed Blaney in Salford, England. The album gathers nine tracks total, and marks the group’s first full-length release since 2017’s New Facts Emerge. They also released a box set of live performances in 2018, and a live album in 2021. A book on the band, Excavate! The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall, came out the same year.
