MANILA, Philippines — Parts of the country may experience rainy weather on Monday, June 15, due to localized thunderstorms as the easterlies continue to prevail, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In the agency’s forecast on Monday morning, Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said, although fair weather conditions are expected in Luzon, “Let’s expect the possibility of strong rain showers especially in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms.”
Localized thunderstorms are also expected in Palawan as well as the entirety of Visayas and Mindanao on Monday, she added.

Dominguez explained that, although the southwest monsoon (also known as habagat) currently has no direct effect on the country, the easterlies continue to prevail over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
The easterlies are warm, moist winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
The Pagasa weather specialist also noted that the agency was not monitoring any new tropical cyclones or low pressure areas within or near the country’s area of responsibility.
Further, Dominguez said Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over the country’s seaboards. /mr
