
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s camp has surrendered 20 of his firearms to the authorities, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a statement on Monday, the PNP said it had coordinated the surrender of the firearms through dela Rosa’s “authorized legal representative” in Barangay Maa, Davao City last Thursday, but the police did not name the representative.

“A total of 20 firearms were accounted for, properly recorded, and issued with corresponding acknowledgment receipts before being transported to the RCSU (Regional Civil Security Unit) 11 office at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City,” it said.

“They (the guns) are now under official custody for safekeeping in accordance with PNP rules and procedures,” it added. “The process was conducted in an orderly manner, ensuring that all procedures were properly observed and fully documented.”
Last May, the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) revoked dela Rosa’s license to own and possess firearms as well as the registration to his 117 guns amid efforts to arrest him over an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant.
The senator is wanted by the ICC over his alleged participation in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, which killed up to 30,000 people, according to human rights groups. /mr
