The current number of fiber broadband internet users in Nepal has surpassed 34.56 lakh. Likewise, the fixed wired broadband connection has reached an 51.79% in population penetration proportion, the latest MIS report from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) for Baisakh 2083 highlights.
According to the NTA report for Baisakh 2083, there are 34 lakh, 56 thousand, and 1fiber internet users. In Chaitra 2082, the figure stood 34 lakh, 44 thousand, and 599. That means the ISPs managed an increase of over 11 thousand subscriptions in a month’s period.
Customer base of major ISPs
WorldLink remains the frontrunner in Nepal’s fiber internet landscape with over 10.78 lakh customer base. The company continues to dominate the industry with incredibly consistent user base growth. The ISP added about 5,000 new subscribers to its FTTH network in a single month.
Second, Dish Home is also running dominantly with over 3.69 lakh customers. Another private ISP, Vianet, is in third with over 3.63 lakh customers. The state telco, Nepal Telecom (NTC), with NT Fiber packages, is fourth with over 3.54 lakh customers.
Likewise, Classic Tech is at fifth with over 2.86 lakh users. The company brought in about 3 thousand customers in a month. Subisu maintains its strong position at sixth with over 2.64 lakh users, while CG Net is also furthering its growth trajectory, creating a base of over 90 thousand as of Baisakh 2083. Despite staying at seventh on the list, the ISP is the harbinger of the famous internet speed war in Nepal after debuting its sensational 120 Mbps internet plan in 2021.
