
COTABATO CITY — Police authorities seized P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested five individuals, including a woman, during a buy-bust operation on Sunday afternoon in Barangay Basak Malutlut, Marawi City.
In a statement, Police Maj. Mohammad Ridhwhan Ombawa, commander of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RDEU-PRO BAR), identified the suspects as Mawiya Gunting, alias “Paks,” 56; Khadaffy Ampuan, 45; Ibrahim Mayasa, 52; Hassanor Gunting, 22; and Aisa Gunting, 48, all residents of Lanao del Sur.
The buy-bust operation was carried out at 2:30 p.m. on June 14, led by RDEU-PRO BAR with support from other police units in Marawi.

Capt. Steffi Salanguit, PRO-BAR spokesperson, said the operating units seized a large tea bag containing approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million, based on the valuation of the Dangerous Drugs Board.
Also recovered from the five suspects were 10 bundles of marked money, a gray Toyota Avanza with plate number NAU-1598, mobile phones, and documents.
The suspects are currently detained at the Marawi City Police Station while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them. /mr
