Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected four-man fraud syndicate allegedly involved in defrauding victims with counterfeit United States dollar notes.
The suspects, identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma and John Egwuba, were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit on June 9, 2026.
The spokesperson of the command, Bright Edafe, said the suspects were allegedly involved in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public using fake US dollar notes.
He said the suspects, who reportedly operated in a red, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV, were arrested along Nnebisi Road in Asaba.
According to him, the suspects confessed during interrogation that they operated from a hideout in Asaba.
Edafe said a search of the hideout led to the recovery of 1,600 counterfeit US dollar notes and military camouflage concealed within the premises.
He added that investigations were ongoing to unravel the full scope of the syndicate’s activities, after which the suspects would be charged.
