Store-made deli meats recalled in South Island over possible presence of glass

A recall of store-made deli meals has been issued for three South Island supermarkets because of the possible presence of glass.

Ready-made chicken meals at New World Greymouth, New World Rolleston at Pak'n'Save Riccarton, packed between 9 and 13 June have been recalled. The products were sold chilled in plastic containers.

New Zealand Food Safety said there had been no reports of injuries but anyone who had consumed the products and had concerns should seek medical advice.

The recall did not affect any other deli products.

Pams and Market Kitchen branded simmer sauces were recalled last week because of damaged glass jars.

Food Safety deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle said the glass jars in which the products were packaged could be damaged and glass could get into the sauces or injure someone when handled.

"If you have any of these products - sold at Four Square, New World, Pak'nSave and The Warehouse nationwide - don't eat them and handle them carefully. You can return them to the place of purchase for a refund. If that's not possible, throw them out," he said.
