
MANILA, Philippines — According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), more than 720,000 people were impacted by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit Mindanao on June 8. Based on the latest situation report from the NDRRMC regarding the impacts of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Maasim, Sarangani, approximately 724,000 people, or 173,000 families, were affected by the disaster. Of the total, 2,000 families or 10,000 individuals were residing in 34 evacuation centers.
