
MANILA – The Visayas grid is placed under yellow alert status anew Monday as the unavailability of four major coal-fired power plants left the region with insufficient contingency reserves. According to an advisory from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the yellow alert will run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with available capacity sitting at 2,581 megawatts (MW) against an expected peak demand of 2,482 MW.
