
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 6,144 aftershocks from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that shook Mindanao last week have been recorded as of 11 a.m. on Monday, June 15, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Of the 6,144 aftershocks, 78 were felt across the affected regions, Phivolcs director Teresito Bacolcol said during a press briefing via teleconference with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck 32 kilometers southwest of Maasim, Sarangani, at 7:37 a.m. on June 8, triggering multiple aftershocks across parts of Mindanao. /mr
