Occupational Health and Safety Authority and Building and Construction Authority have confirmed that works were stopped immediately following a wall collapse at Xemxija Hill.
According to the authorities, the incident happened after a truck transporting machinery struck a wall, causing it to collapse.
No injuries were reported.
In a joint statement, the authorities said they immediately attended the site following reports of the collapse, while the fallen material was promptly cleared from the pavement.
Although preliminary investigations found no imminent danger, OHSA and the BCA confirmed that all works on the site were ordered to stop immediately as a precautionary measure, with the exception of remedial works.
These remedial works include interventions on the wall separating the site from neighbouring third-party properties.
The authorities also reminded the public that reports related to construction sites or occupational health and safety concerns can be made through Helpline 138 to allow for immediate investigation.
