An Auckland motorist has been stopped by police after reports of near misses on the city's southern motorway.
Police started receiving calls just before 5pm on Monday evening.
A Mercedes-Benz was reportedly seen swerving across southbound lanes, narrowly missing several vehicles.
Senior sergeant Dave Readings said the vehicle was stopped south of the Papakura on-ramp, near Drury.
He said the driver and a passenger were in custody and inquiries were ongoing.
"We acknowledge those motorists who called 111 this evening so that we could prevent any harm from occurring."
