
The prime minister has confirmed a full social media ban will be introduced in the UK for under-16s. Keir Starmer said the government had listened carefully to campaigners and that social media was creating an unhappy environment for children. He acknowledged that teenagers would try to circumvent the ban, but said people get around other laws and that does not make them pointless.
Starmer said the government would 'move at speed' to pass the necessary legislation before Christmas and bring the ban into force in early 2027
