Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto agreed to strengthen labor partnerships in the high-technology sector and nursing field when receiving the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Merdeka Palace here on Monday.
"In the health workforce sector, we highly appreciate the signing of the Letter of Intent on the Global Skills Partnership in nursing. Indonesia also wants to expand job opportunities for Indonesian workers in Germany, including in the high-tech sector," President Prabowo said in his remarks.
Besides the formal employment sector, the bilateral meeting between the two heads of state also brought fresh momentum for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.
The Indonesian government warmly welcomed the implementation of the Partnering in Business with Germany program, which is specifically aimed at developing national MSME programs.
The enhancement of business actors’ capacity and the consolidation of those comparative investment commitments will be followed up officially in the near future.
Indonesia is scheduled to host the second Joint Economic and Investment Committee in 2026.
Comprehensive cooperation with Germany is also being carried out through the Competitiveness Industrial Modernization and Trade Acceleration Program (CITA) scheme.
The meeting formed part of a series of discussions on strategic partnerships covering the economy, investment, energy transition, energy security, education, and employment.
The meeting between Prabowo and Steinmeier in Jakarta also served as an initial agenda in welcoming the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Germany bilateral relations, which falls in 2027.
During their meeting, the two leaders emphasized their shared goals to expand cooperation in business, energy, climate, skilled labor recruitment, and culture.
In addition, Indonesia and Germany will also underscore their common stance on democracy, the rules-based order, and strong multilateral engagement in the Indo-Pacific.
