Foreign minister comments after US, Iran reach deal to stop war

Deputy Premier and Foreign

Minister Antonio Tajani said Monday that Israel must stop

bombing Beirut after the United States and Iran reached an

agreement to end the war in the Middle East.

"We must ensure that the fighting in Lebanon stops too, that

Israel no longer bombs Beirut," Tajani said on the sidelines of

an EU foreign affairs council in Luxembourg.

In her statement welcoming the deal reached between Washington

and Tehran, Premier Giorgia Meloni said that "hostilities must

also cease in Lebanon".

Meloni said that "Italy will continue working to support

Lebanese sovereignty".
