Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Monday that Moscow is not interested in
peace after the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery, a UNESCO world
heritage site, caught fire amid the latest round of deadly
Russian bombings on Ukraine overnight.
"Attacks against a UNESCO site really are incredibly serious,"
Tajani said in Luxembourg, where he is taking part in a EU
foreign affairs council.
"They demonstrate that Russia does not want to sit at the peace
table.
"Kyiv is also a religious capital, so Russia must also be
careful not to desecrate the sentiments of all Christians and
Orthodox Christians in Russia as well.
"The Kremlin is making serious mistakes, demonstrating that it
is in difficulty.
"We must continue to apply pressure so that there can finally be
dialogue between the two sides".
