MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water Company recently led water relief operations in the municipalities of Malapatan and Glan in Sarangani, following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that shook the Soccsksargen Region.
The firm conducted its relief operation through its social development arm, Manila Water Foundation (MWF), and the Non-East Zone operating unit, Manila Water Philippine Ventures-Cebu (MWPV-Cebu), in coordination with Manny Pacquiao Holdings and the Sarangani Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The initiative forms part of the AGAPAY: WASH in Emergencies Program of MWF, a program that delivers rapid water access, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions in disaster-stricken areas.

AGAPAY supports communities by providing potable water, hygiene kits, and emergency sanitation facilities, helping prevent waterborne diseases and ensuring dignity and safety for affected populations.
The program reflects the MWF’s commitment to bridging water access gaps, particularly in times of urgent need.
A mobile treatment plant (MTP) and a 10-cubic-meter water tanker were deployed, which sourced water from the Malapatan River to provide immediate relief to severely hit barangays.
The MTP was able to provide potable water supply to 4,660 affected individuals from Barangays Libi, Sapu Padidu, and Sapu Masla in Malapatan and 20,216 individuals from Barangays Poblacion, Ilaya, and Pangyan in Glan, Sarangani, in the past 4 days.

Still under AGAPAY, in response to the recent activity of Mayon Volcano and the resulting ashfall that affected communities in Albay, Manila Water Foundation (MWF), in partnership with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Corporate Office (MWSS-CO), turned over more than 250 pieces of blankets and mosquito nets, and 100 units of five-gallon drinking water to residents of Barangay Magapo in Tabaco City.
The ceremonial handover underscored the strong collaboration between government and private sector partners in delivering urgent relief to affected communities in the Bicol Region.
Present at the turnover were Manila Water Chief Operating Officer Arnold Mortera, Regulatory Management Group Head Eva Clemente, and MWF Executive Director Reginald Andal, who formally handed over the donations to MWSS Administrator Engr. Leonor “Bobby” Cleofas, CESO IV.
The potable water supplies were subsequently delivered by the MWSS-CO to beneficiaries in Barangay Magapo, ensuring that families affected by ashfall have access to safe and clean drinking water amid ongoing disruptions caused by volcanic activity.
“The MWSS extends its deepest gratitude to the Manila Water Company and Manila Water Foundation for their generous donation of 100 units of five-gallon water containers deployed by the MWSS last 25 May 2026. The badly needed drinking water complements the MWSS’s essential relief supplies of blankets and mosquito nets for the affected residents of Barangay Magapo in Tabaco City, Albay, during the recent Mayon Volcano eruption. This exemplifies how corporate social responsibility transforms our resources into a lifeline for vulnerable communities during environmental crises,” Cleofas says.
Mayon Volcano, one of the Philippines’ most active volcanoes, has been exhibiting heightened activity in recent months, including eruptions, lava flows, and ash emissions that have impacted surrounding communities in Albay.
Local government units have been mobilizing evacuation and relief efforts as affected families cope with displacement and environmental hazards.
Manila Water reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and community resilience, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in responding to climate- and disaster-related challenges.
