President Trump has unveiled the plans for what he called a “spectacular” rally in Washington on July 4, when the nation will celebrate its 250th birthday.
“On July 4th, at The Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, in beautiful and safe Washington D.C., we are going to host the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all, a ‘TRIBUTE TO AMERICA,’” Trump said Monday in a Truth Social post.
“Starting at 7 P.M. EST, this HUGE Celebration will honor our Country’s People, Spirit, Strength, Resolve, and Triumphs,” he added.
Trump added that “more than 300 Members of our strong and talented Military Bands, Orchestras, and Ceremonial Units, will perform Patriotic Melodies and American Classics, and my Playlist.”
The rally is also set to include military flyovers and airshows, according to the president, with the event ending with “the LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY.”
“See you on JULY 4th in Washington, D.C.,” Trump said at the end of this post.
Last month, the White House unveiled a slate of celebrations to mark the nation’s 250th birthday, including a record-breaking fireworks show on Independence Day. Axios previously reported that Freedom 250, the White House commission behind the events, was working with fireworks firm Pyrotecnico in an effort to break a Guinness World Record for “largest firework display.”
Earlier this month, Trump announced a rally in D.C. to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary after multiple artists dropped out of prior plans to perform at the upcoming “Great American State Fair” on the National Mall.
On Sunday night, a primetime UFC fight night occurred steps from the White House, with Trump attending the event on his 80th birthday. The event, which mixed politics and business, started with a live shot of Trump and UFC CEO Dana White walking out of the Oval Office.
Trump also said in a separate Truth Social post on Monday that June 24 “will be the ‘kick off’ of our summer long Celebration of 250 Years of American Independence!”
Next week’s event is set to include performances from military bands and country singer Lee Greenwood, as well as military flyovers.
