Drivers across central Malta faced a frustrating commute today after the closure of the Msida flyover triggered significant traffic congestion during rush hour.
Motorists reported long queues and slow-moving traffic in and around Msida, with knock-on effects felt across several major routes leading into the area.
Photos shared with the newsroom show vehicles backed up as drivers attempted to navigate alternative routes around the closure.
The Msida junction is one of Malta’s busiest traffic arteries, meaning any disruption to the flyover can quickly result in widespread delays across the surrounding road network.
Many commuters took to social media to express their frustration as journey times increased and traffic built up throughout the evening peak.
Drivers travelling through the area are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys and seek alternative routes where possible.
