Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Population and Family Development (BKKBN) Wihaji stated that mental resilience is the key for Indonesian youth in facing increasingly rapid social and technological changes in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Speaking at the opening of the 16th anniversary celebration of the Generasi Berencana (Genre) program, Wihaji said that today's youth are living in a new civilization shaped by the rapid flow of information and the development of AI, both of which significantly influence how people think and interact.
"Today, we need the mental readiness to move forward because the algorithms of a civilization increasingly influenced by AI are blurring the boundaries between truth and falsehood, guidance and entertainment," he said here on Monday.
According to him, the challenges faced by today's teenagers are vastly different from those encountered 16 years ago. While creativity and innovation were once the primary focus, young people today are also required to develop the ability to filter information and avoid being easily influenced by various forms of digital content.
Wihaji noted that Indonesia has approximately 46 million families with members aged between 10 and 24 years. This demographic represents a generation that will play a critical role in the country's development over the next two decades.
Therefore, the Genre program serves a strategic function in helping adolescents adapt to changing times through character development, the strengthening of family values, and continuous mentoring.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Forum Genre Indonesia 2024–2026, I Putu Arya Aditia Utama, stated that Genre has three primary roles in shaping a more advanced generation of young Indonesians: as an actor, amplifier, and accelerator.
"As an accelerator, Genre members are equipped with an understanding of adolescent life transitions. The Genre organization has become one of the important platforms for shaping youth character," he said.
