General turned politician Roberto
Vannacci's new far-right party National Future (FN) is polling
at 5.3%, the same as the right-wing League party he recently
quit shortly after being appointed its deputy leader, a new poll
said Monday.
FN, which officially launched at the weekend, has gained half a
point in a week and is now level with the League (which lost
0.3%) at 5.3% in the Italian voting outlook surveyed by SWG for
Tg La7.
Pemier Giorgia Meloni's right-wing Brothers of Italy is down
0.4% compared to last week at 27.9%, while the centre-left
opposition Democratic Party (PD) is up 0.1% at 22.1%, the
opposition populist Five Star Movement (M5S) up 0.2% at 13.3%,
and the centre-right post Berlusconi Forza Italia party also up
0.2% at 7.2%.
The opposition Green-Left Alliance AVS is stable at 6.5% and
centrist opposition Italia Viva (IV) also steady at 2.4%.
Centrist non-aligned Azione (Action) is at 3.5% (-0.1%),
centrist opposition +Europa at 1.6% (+0.1%), centre-right Noi
Moderati (We Moderates) at 1.1% (-0.1%), and centrist Ora! at 1%
as it was seven days ago.
Vannacci is currently seen as too far right to be counted among
the centre-right parties, which have fallen slightly behind the
centre-left alliance in the polls.
If he joins the Meloni-led alliance before or after the next
general election, currently scheduled for October next year, he
could keep her in power.
