
LUCENA CITY — A piece of metallic debris bearing foreign markings was found along the shoreline of Lian, Batangas, on Monday, June 15, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The PCG station in Batangas reported that a resident discovered the aluminum debris, measuring about 20 feet long and 10.5 feet wide, along the shoreline of Sitio Talim in Barangay Luyahan.

An initial assessment using available translation tools suggested that the markings may refer to “Antenna Transmission Window 5,” according to the PCG.

Authorities have yet to determine the origin and nature of the debris.
Initial findings showed that the markings were written in Chinese characters.
The debris is now under the custody of the PCG for documentation, monitoring, and further assessment. Coordination with concerned authorities is ongoing to determine its source and significance.

The PCG said it continues to monitor the situation while pursuing efforts to identify where the debris came from and its possible purpose.
On June 6, mariners and coastal residents in Northern Luzon have been advised to remain vigilant as debris from China’s Long March 5 rocket is expected to fall within designated waters off Cagayan and Ilocos Norte during its scheduled launch on June 10. /dp
