An estate management firm Jide Taiwo & Co. has disclosed plans to offer automatic employment to six best graduates of University of Lagos (UNILAG) as part of its plan to reduce graduates’ unemployability rate in estate management.
An Estate Surveyor and Valuer (ESV) Bashiru Olalekan stated this during the firm’s Job Fair and Career Day 2026 held at UNILAG, saying the firm is focused at offering cash rewards of N1m to best graduating students.
“It is a very good initiative and we call it the ‘catch them young’ programme so that it will encourage them to come to the estate management profession. The N500,000 is for the best overall graduating student male in estate management and another N500,000 for best graduating student female. The first three best graduating students, we are going to offer them automatic employment for male and female categories,” he said.
ESV Adebiyi Ayeni described the initiative as part of the firm’s broader commitment to mentoring and preparing the next generation of estate surveyors and valuers.
“We just have to prepare for the future now. For the students, it’s a great privilege and opportunity to have people who are already practising come around to mentor them, give presentations and get them ready for the profession ahead. It is part of our corporate social responsibility to society,” he said.
He added that the programme was designed to equip students with practical knowledge and guide them through the steps required to build successful careers in estate surveying and valuation.
“We also feel it is an opportunity for us to build our future as Surveyors and Valuers right from this institution. All that we have delivered to them today are the steps they need to take to prepare themselves for the profession,” he said.
Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Prof. Olumide Adenuga, emphasised the importance of industry exposure and career development initiatives in preparing students for future challenges in the profession.
