Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia's support for the Palestinian people during a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday evening.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said on Monday the call reflected the close relationship between Indonesia and Palestine, which has long been built on brotherhood, solidarity, and support for the Palestinian struggle.
"During the phone call, President Mahmoud Abbas conveyed the latest developments in Palestine and expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's consistent, concrete support for the Palestinian people," Teddy said.
He added that Abbas also expressed hope that Indonesia would continue playing an active role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
"According to President Abbas, Indonesia's voice and leadership under President Prabowo are important and have received broad attention in various international forums," Teddy said.
He noted that Prabowo has consistently supported Palestine, including during his tenure as defense minister.
Indonesia's support has included the delivery of humanitarian aid by air and sea, the deployment of a hospital ship and medical personnel, scholarships for 100 Palestinian students to study at the Defense University, and advocacy for Palestine in international forums.
In response, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia's commitment to continue supporting the Palestinian people and promoting a just and dignified peace.
According to Teddy, Indonesia's support for Palestine reflects both a constitutional mandate and the country's long-standing foreign policy principles of supporting independence, humanity, and world peace.
Through the communication between the two leaders, Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for their rights.
