PBA Finals: RJ Abarrientos not surprised by TNT's Game 6 showing

MANILA, Philippines—Despite injuries to key players, TNT fought back to force a deciding Game 7 against Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

The Tropang 5G’s Game 6 performance, led by Chris McCullough’s 53 points and 22 rebounds, didn’t surprise Gin Kings guard RJ Abarrientos.

“This series went to a Game 7 because TNT was able to do what they needed to do. They just give it. Every other game, you could see that from them,” said Abarrientos in Filipino.

TNT also made adjustments on the defensive end, holding Ginebra’s star backcourt of Abarrientos and Scottie Thompson to just nine points combined.

Abarrientos played nothing like the Best Player of the Conference with only six points on a woeful 1-of-12 shooting from the field.

On the other end, Jordan Heading and Roger Pogoy backstopped McCullough with 19 and 13 points, respectively.

“That’s just how it is. One team wins, the other loses. We just need to take Game 7.”

Game 7 is on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena with the Gin Kings hoping to end a three-year title drought.
