Seven suspected members of Anarchist terrorist cell arrested

Two suspected of sabotage of high-speed rail line during 2026 Winter Olympics

Italian police on Tuesday arrested

seven people suspected of forming an anarchist terrorist cell.

Two of them are also charged with the February 14 attack on the

Rome-Florence high-speed rail line, which caused damage that

cost 455,000 euros to repair and was part of a series of acts of

sabotage on Italy's rail network during the period of 2026

Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

An anarchist group claimed responsibility for that attack and

another on the Rome-Naples rail line on a website that had

allegedly been set up specially some months before the attack.

The statement referred to the Olympics and to Alfredo Cospito,

an anarchist who is in jail for several crimes and is being held

under the tough '41 bis' prison regime usually reserved for

mafia convicts.
