Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo met Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Singapore on Monday (June 15), outlining investment opportunities in Phase 3 and Phase 4 of Jakarta’s mass rapid transit (MRT) expansion project.
He said in a statement on Tuesday that the Jakarta provincial government is open to capital inflow from Singapore into transit-oriented development projects and urban initiatives aimed at advancing Jakarta’s global city vision.
“Investing in Jakarta today means securing access to one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia. Investments streaming into Jakarta will contribute to Indonesia’s growth, strengthen ASEAN economies, and create added value to regional partners, Singapore included,” Pramono remarked.
He also leveraged the meeting at the prime minister’s office to emphasize his administration’s commitment to fostering a more accessible, transparent, efficient, and consistent climate for investment.
Rolling out supporting policies, he continued, is essential to build investor confidence.
“We want Singaporean business actors to know that Jakarta is committed to easing investment with clear regulations, efficient processes, and consistent policies. I believe that the trust and collaboration we are building today will result in mutual success,” he stated.
The governor further assured Singapore of Jakarta’s credibility, telling Wong that his years-long experience in governance and bureaucracy plays a vital part in his measures to develop effective communications with Singapore and other strategic partners.
“My experience as cabinet secretary across two terms and presently as Jakarta governor enables me to bridge national policies, implementing them at the local level. This is important to provide investors with certainty and build their confidence,” he affirmed.
The Singapore talks also served to deepen personal and institutional ties between Pramono and Wong, building on relations established during their previous roles in their respective national governments.
