
Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined the cast of the upcoming fantasy film “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” where she will portray a new elf character named Seren.
Taylor-Joy’s casting was confirmed in an Instagram post by Warner Bros. on Tuesday, June 16, as they shared a GIF of the actress in the role.
“Welcome to the hunt, Anya Taylor-Joy,” read the post, which has now gained 4 million views.

Taylor-Joy’s character is described as “a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil,” and was created specifically for the film and does not appear in the original works of author J.R.R. Tolkien.
The movie will be directed by Andy Serkis, who will also reprise his role as Gollum.

According to screenwriter Philippa Boyens, the plot follows Gandalf sending Aragorn on a dangerous mission to track down Gollum before he reveals the location of the One Ring to Sauron.
The cast also includes Jamie Dornan as Aragorn, Leo Woodall as Halvard, and Kate Winslet as Marigol. Returning stars include Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, and Lee Pace as Thranduil.

Taylor-Joy rose to fame through the horror film “The Witch” before earning wider recognition for the series “The Queen’s Gambit,” which earned her a Golden Globe.
The actress also appeared in the films “Last Night in Soho,” “The Menu,” and “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”

Meanwhile, “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” is scheduled for theatrical release on Dec. 17, 2027. /edv
