"As of Monday, June 15, 13 countries registered," said Beni Yoga Gunasantika, Head of the Garut District Tourism and Culture Office, in Garut on Tuesday.
The Garut International Kite Festival will also feature participants from several regions, including Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, South Sumatra, and South Kalimantan.
Registered participants come from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, China, Switzerland, Sweden, France, Italy, and Belgium.
The Garut District Government will fully support the kite festival, which is expected to attract many tourists to Garut.
"The selection of Garut is a unique attraction for international kite flyers," he said.
Previously, the event was held in coastal areas, but this year it will be held in the mountains, which have their own unique charm.
Several infrastructure projects, particularly road access improvements, are being prepared to support the event.
"We are currently waiting for the road infrastructure to be completed," said Beni.
The event is scheduled to take place for five days, from July 29 to August 2, 2026, at the Tepas Papandayan Agrotourism Site in Cisurupan Sub-district, at the foot of Mount Papandayan.
