EXCLUSIVE: Geoffrey Thorne has signed on to adapt VR video game Events at Unity Farm into a TV series.
The Eyes of Wakanda, Power: Book II: Ghost and Batman: Caped Crusader writer and exec is working with Titan1Studios on the adaptation. He will write and exec produce alongside his partner, Todd Sharp, through their banner, The Winterman Project.
Canada’s Titan1 originally released Events at Unity Farm in 2023 as its first wholly-developed and published game. The PCVR mystery puzzle shooter saw players set into the shoes of Ruth Bowie, a reserved teenager descended from a matrilineal line of witches.
The live-action TV series will follow Ruth and her family as they return to the titular farm, a mysterious parcel of land holding untold supernatural horrors. Thorne will expand on the characters established in the game, leaning into the multigenerational nature of the Bowie family legacy and emphasizing contemporary YA themes, per the producers.
“The world of Unity Farm is rich and full of surprises which, to me, a creative with a lifetime immersed in genre media, was like a siren song,” said Thorne. “Who wouldn’t want to play in this sandbox? The Winterman Project is thrilled to be partnering with Titan1 on bringing the world of Unity Farm to wider media and I, personally, am both humbled and excited to be the guy who gets to drive.”
The news comes as Titan1Studios turns ten, with the Unity Farm adaptation on step in plan to expand two distinct comic book universes launched a decade ago in 2016. Unity Farm falls into the Multipocalypse Universe – a dark fantasy-, steampunk- and Lovecraftian horror-themed world where reality has collapsed into a cataclysmic event.
Additional news regarding its Relativity Universe slated for later this year, the company noted.
“As Titan1Studios celebrates our tenth anniversary, our focus is entirely on scaling our core universes for a global audience,” said Rathan Moorthy, CEO of Titan1Studios. “Events at Unity Farm proved that our original IP resonates deeply with fans, and adapting it for TV is the natural next step. Geoff’s exceptional vision for this world perfectly complements our ambitious television slate, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this franchise to life alongside him.”
The news comes with Titan1Studios at the Banff World Media Festival this week.
