Vice President JD Vance will appear on “The View” on Tuesday, June 16, joining Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro at the Hot Topics table.
The episode airs Tuesday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET on ABC. Cord-cutters can stream the episode live through live TV streaming services that carry local ABC affiliates, including Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV and Sling TV (in select markets).
Vance’s appearance coincides with the release of his new book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” out June 16 from HarperCollins. The memoir marks his first book since “Hillbilly Elegy,” the bestselling 2016 memoir that helped launch Vance into the national spotlight before it was adapted into a Netflix film directed by Ron Howard. In “Communion,” Vance writes about his religious journey, including his conversion to Catholicism in 2019, while also reflecting on family, politics and public life.
Vance will also no doubt be asked about current political headlines at the Hot Topics table including: the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, a newly passed $70 billion enforcement package for ICE and Border Patrol and the White House’s tentative Iran agreement.
The Iran deal may be especially ripe for questioning. Vance has been one of the administration’s most visible messengers on the agreement, which the White House has framed as a way to end the conflict with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Immigration is another obvious subject. The Trump administration has made border enforcement a defining second-term priority, and the House recently passed a multibillion-dollar bill to fund ICE and Border Patrol after months of partisan fighting. The interview could also turn to domestic policy, including Vance’s role leading the White House’s anti-fraud push.
Because the appearance is happening on ABC, Vance may also be asked about the Trump administration’s ongoing tension with the network and “The View” itself. The booking comes as Disney has been fighting an FCC issue involving whether the show qualifies as a bona fide news interview program.
