
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday hosted a European Union delegation led by Ambassador Gautier Mignot, the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, at his private residence in Ibadan.
The meeting, which centred on collaboration between Oyo State and the EU in agricultural development, education and the fight against gender-based violence, was attended by the Head of Section for Human Development at the European Union in Nigeria, Prof. Leila Mathieu.
Others in attendance include the governor’s adviser on agribusiness and international cooperation, Debo Akande, and executive assistant on administration, Revd Idowu Ogedengbe.
The governor later held a private session with Ambassador Mignot.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Mignot, who noted that it was his first visit to the state, said the parties discussed agricultural development and climate change at length, with a view to strengthening Oyo State’s position as a major food-producing state in the country.
He added, “We also discussed education, where we are partnering, and the fight against gender-based violence.
“Youths and women are our priorities in all of the projects I have highlighted, and we are focusing on them in particular.
“We are focusing on the value chain in the dairy sector, and we want to work in the cocoa sector because it has great potential.”
