Nobel Algarve British International School Almancil is hosting IB Day Algarve 2026, a key educational event organised by the International Baccalaureate (IB), bringing together school leaders and academic coordinators from across Portugal for a day of professional dialogue, collaboration and innovation in education.
Taking place on June 19, 2026, the event marks the return of IB Day to Portugal following its successful first edition in Lisbon. Organised by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), the gathering will provide a platform for educators from both public and private schools to exchange best practices, explore developments in international education and strengthen connections within Portugal’s growing IB community.
“The selection of Nobel Algarve British International School Almancil as the host venue reflects the school’s growing role within the IB network and its commitment to delivering internationally recognised educational excellence,” says the school in a statement to the press.
The event is particularly significant for the school as it takes place just one year before the graduation of its first International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) cohort. Hosting educators and IB representatives from across the country at this important stage in the school’s IB journey highlights Nobel Algarve’s dedication to fostering an environment of academic ambition, global citizenship and lifelong learning.
“The opportunity to host IB Day Algarve is both an honour and a milestone for our school community,” said David Jenkins, Head of School at Nobel Algarve British International School Almancil. “As we prepare for our first IB Diploma graduates next year, welcoming colleagues and educational leaders from across Portugal demonstrates our commitment to the values and educational philosophy of the International Baccalaureate.”
Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate is recognised globally for its rigorous educational programmes that develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed and contribute positively to society. Today, IB Organization works with more than 6,230 schools across 163 countries, supporting over two million students worldwide.
In Portugal, the IB has been active since 1986 and is currently offered in 18 schools. Through programmes that encourage critical thinking, intercultural understanding and real-world problem-solving, the IB continues to play an important role in preparing students for success at university and beyond.
IB Day Algarve will feature interactive sessions led by authorised and candidate IB schools, discussions on programme implementation and educational leadership, and networking opportunities with members of the IB team and the wider education community.
