Hey Hackers! \ Welcome back to 3 Tech Polls , HackerNoon's Weekly Newsletter that curates results from our Poll of the Week , and 2 related polls around the web. Thank you for having voted in our polls in the past. \ This week, we’ll be taking a look at vibe coding. More specifically, let’s take a look at how people feel about vibe coding. Plus, we’ll take a look at the future of tech companies. \ \ HackerNoon Poll The jqwik maintainer hid a prompt injection in v1.10.0 that tells AI agents to delete all tests and code -- invisible to humans, fully readable to bots. Claude Code caught it. Other agents didn't. Some devs call it a wake-up call. Others call it a supply chain attack. Whose side are you on? Interestingly, the four choices had about 25% of the vote each, making this one of the most evenly distributed polls ever. Let’s take a look at how people voted and why. \ 28% of voters believe this is a supply chain attack outright. Regardless of what the intent was, the sabotage can’t be seen as ethical. \ 26% of voters believed exactly the opposite and think it was justified. 24% believe the message was good but could’ve been made differently. Finally, 23% predict a future where more maintainers will lay out traps against AI agents. \ One user took this time to make a World War II anecdote, saying: \ I "almost" chose the supply chain comment, but there are Norwegian Commandos during WWII, that would beg to differ… \ It looks like there are mixed feelings over this booby trap. Some people believe this was a step too far, while others believe it was justified and a preview of the future. \ :::tip Want to say your piece? Now, let’s see what other predictions of the future the internet is making. \ \ 🌐 From Around the Web: Polymarket Pick Which company has the best Coding AI model end of July? Coding AI models are still all the rage, and the top tech companies of the world are racing to have the best one. There can be a lot of great ones, but when it comes to the best, there can only be one. Well, the Polymarket community believes one candidate has what it takes to have the best coding AI model by the end of July, and it’s Anthropic, with an 84% chance. \ Amazon is in second place, with a 38% chance. Further down is OpenAI with an 8% chance. There’s a lot of faith in Anthropic right now, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll be able to ride this wave all the way ‘til the end of July. \ \ 🌐From Around The Web: Kalshi Pick When will Apple release the iPhone 18? The internet is also trying to predict what will happen later this year as well. Specifically, they’re trying to estimate when Apple will release the iPhone 18. \ The outcome with the biggest chance is “Before 2027” with a 22% chance. “Before October” is trailing close behind with a 19% chance. \ Although people complain about the yearly phone releases, they still sell well enough for companies like Apple and Samsung to continue doing them. A new iPhone will definitely be released this year; it’s just a matter of when exactly. \ :::tip 👉 Vote on this week’s poll: SpaceX just went public at a $2 trillion valuation.
